His eighteen year career in higher education has given him extensive and successful experience in guiding families through the process of choosing and applying to colleges and universities in the United States and abroad.
Christian E. Safie, BSBA |Technology and Development Coordinator
Christian Elias Safie graduated from Lynn University in May, 2012, with a degree in Business Administration. During his education he had opportunities to experience living and studying abroad in Rome and Naples, Italy, in addition to Lynn’s campus in Boca Raton, Florida. These experiences are instrumental to his broad view of education and his commitment to helping others attain their goals.
Carolina Jaramillo, BBA | Higher Education Consultant, Regional Coordinator | Colombia
Carolina Jaramillo was born in Medellín, Colombia. In 1991, after graduating from The Columbus School, she moved to New York to study Baking and Pastry at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. There she earned her Associate’s degree in December of 1993. Shortly after graduating, Ms. Jaramillo moved to New York City to continue her studies at Pace University, Lubin School of Business, where she earned her B.B.A. in International Business in June of 1997.
Ana Maria Gaviria | Program & Media Coordinator
Ana María Gaviria was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina. When she was 5 years old her family moved to Medellín, Colombia.
She studied at The Columbus School, a bilingual school in Medellin, where she finished high school in 2008. She continued her studies in Advertising / Communication at the University “Colegiatura Colombiana”. While attending college, Ana María worked for four years in the family business founded by her grandfather, Bernardo Navarro. The company, Litografía Berna, has been in business for more than 70 years, which has generated great recognition in their field.
Beatriz Guerra | Program & Media Coordinator
Beatriz Guerra was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. As a 15-year-old she moved to Florida where she finished her high school studies at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. She was part of the Spanish Club for 3 years and served as the Vice-president her senior year. Learn More
Yanira Castellanos | Career Service Specialist
Yanira was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. After finishing high school she moved to California to continue her education at Glendale College where she studied English and Modern Dance. While attending college, Yanira worked as Administrative Assistant to a film producer at American General Film Corp., where she coordinated the casting for movies, the locations for the shooting of films, and planning press conferences for theatrical releases.
Anna Barr | Higher Education Consultant
Anna Barr has been working in higher education for over ten years, building relationships with college counselors from around the world. She has helped both domestic and international students successfully navigate the application process and understands the challenges associated with finding the right school.
Diana Navarro | Career Counselor | Colombia
Diana Navarro was born in Bogota, Colombia. She studied most of her life at Colegio Anglo Colombiano, had her elementary education in the United States and graduated from Fundacion Gimnasio Los Portales in Bogota. Her professional studies were conducted in Colombia, where she graduated as a Psychologist from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2002.
Heather Peterson | English Faculty | USA
Heather Peterson graduated with a BA in Classics from Brown University, where she was a student advisor, writing tutor, and copy editor for the Brown Daily Herald. Since graduating from college, Heather has earned her M.A. in English from Lancaster University in England and her M.F.A. in Fiction Writing from the University of Florida.
Emma Smith-Stevens | English Faculty | USA
Emma is a graduate of Bard College and the University of Florida’s MFA program in creative writing. She has worked as an editor, copywriter, and copyeditor. A teacher of fiction workshops, composition, and literature, she is deeply passionate about helping students grow toward their potential as writers and thinkers. Emma’s short stories and interviews—and a fake advice column or two—have been published in many fine literary journals.
Adriana Von Simson | Brief Strategic Family Therapy Trainer | USA
Adriana von Simson is a bilingual therapist specializing in Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT). She has 20 years of work experience in the field of Psychology & Clinical Social Work and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social work from Boston College.
Adriana has worked for the University of Miami Center for Family Studies and is presently at the Family Therapy Training Institute of Miami (FTTIM) & Mercy Hospital, Department of Behavioral Health. She specializes in working with individuals, adults, families, adolescents, children and young adults to work through difficult times with the goal of strengthening their relationships.
Dina Weinberg | English Faculty | USA
Dina Weinberg has been working with students in many capacities for more than 20 years. Her approach to teaching and learning stems from her belief that every person has the capacity to grow in a fulfilling and enjoyable way. Dina currently has a private tutoring business where she works one-on-one with students on expository, personal, and historical writing skills, as well as computational and organizational skills. Before becoming a full time tutor, Dina taught English at an independent school in New York City.
Dr. Orlando Rodriguez | Psychologist | USA
Dr. Rodriguez is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Florida. He received his Doctorate from Albizu University and completed both his clinical internship and post-doctoral residency in Miami, Florida. Dr. Rodriguez also received a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Albizu University and has worked with students as a guidance counselor for more than seven years.
Susan Willis Dunlap | English Faculty | USA
Susan Willis Dunlap has her Master of Education degree in International Teaching from Framingham State University, and she has 15 years of teaching and administrative experience at the high school and college level. Her favorite job was teaching American Literature and AP English Language at Escuela Americana in San Salvador. While working with students in El Salvador, Susan developed her love for tutoring in SAT/ACT and editing college essays.
Adriana Gomez | Parent Liaison & Program Innovator | USA
Adriana was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She started studying at Simón Bolívar University and later moved to New York City to improve her English. Thereafter, she pursued her career in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising at Tobe-Coburn School of Fashion. She returned to Venezuela after graduation, where she worked with Christian Dior for a time before becoming the personal assistant for the Cisneros family, working on different projects and traveling frequently between the USA, Europe, and Venezuela. She also complemented her studies in the Business sector at IESA Executive Education Institute. By then, telecoms had begun operating in Venezuela, and Adriana decided to venture into this new area, eventually working with Telcel for 10 years.
Delsie Phillips | Senior Educational Manager | USA
Delsie Phillips offers more than thirty years in enrollment management leadership and higher education consulting, and she has served as an independent consultant in admission and financial aid. She has significant experience working in enrollment management, including dean of admission and financial aid at Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania, and vice president for enrollment management at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. While serving at Haverford, she established the college’s first international recruiting program. At Lynn and Haverford she modernized and reorganized the admission operation, adding new technology and aggressive marketing strategies.
Selena Brown | English Faculty | USA
Selena Brown studied Psychology and Dance at the University of California Riverside, where she earned her B.A. in 2004. She earned her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Alliant International University and her M.Ed. in International Education from Endicott College, and served as a psychotherapist, teacher, and international college counselor in Mexico City for more than half a decade.
Brandy Fransen | Portfolio/Creative Faculty | USA
Brandy Fransen has worked in international higher education and admissions for over sixteen years. She was raised a third-culture kid in Latin America before moving to the United States to attend art school. Brandy has a B.F.A in Graphic Design and worked as a designer before changing careers to international admission. She attended, and later worked at, the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) as their Director of International Admission. During her twelve years at SCAD she led workshops and conducted tutorials titled “How to Prepare a Dynamic Portfolio.”
Sandra Levine | English Faculty | USA
Sandra Levin has over 25 years of experience working with students of all ages and in a variety of capacities. For the past 20 years, Sandra has worked as a classroom teacher and learning specialist in New York City’s independent schools. This Fall, Sandra will teach English at an independent school, as well as working privately as an educational specialist and consultant.
