Beatriz Guerra was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. As a 15-year-old she moved to Florida where she finished her high school studies at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. She was part of the Spanish Club for 3 years and served as the Vice-president her senior year.
Her philanthropic interests led her to take part in a yearlong service trip in Mexico City. This life-changing experience reinforced her strong values, leadership skills, solid work, and personal growth. During this time, she also organized and leaded various camps, especially for Middle school students.
Beatriz graduated from FIU with a B.S. in Mass Communications and a minor in Marketing.
Beatriz knows that education is a key element for success. Being part of the Peer Mentoring program at Broward College taught her the importance of guiding students as best as possible to reach their goals. As a Peer Mentor, she has helped students by providing them with a positive support system and exposing them to techniques and strategies for reaching their goals.
Her hobbies are traveling and singing. She believes, as Joshua J. Marine writes, “Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”
