Since 1996, Stephen Heiner has been working as a private tutor in subjects ranging from language to mathematics to philosophy. He has taught more than 25,000 hours of SAT/ACT preparation and has worked with over 2,000 students. For many families, he has tutored not just the first child, but the second, third, and even fourth.
In addition, his expertise and reputation has led to numerous interviews about test prep and the college admissions process on television (KCTV, KSHB), radio (KCTE 1510 and KCUR 89.3) and in print (Kansas City Star, 435 South, Ingram’s, Kansas City Small Business Journal, Kansas City Business Magazine, Johnson County Gazette). You can view one of his television interviews here.
Stephen spent 2 years in New Hampshire at Thomas More College. He completed a BA in English Literature, with minors in Catholic Studies and Business, at Rockhurst University. He also spent 4 years in the US Marine Corps Reserve as a Nuclear Biological and Chemical Defense specialist.
In 2012 he taught Rockhurst University‘s first course in entrepreneurship to students in the Graduate MBA program. Stephen holds an MBA himself, from Saint Louis University.
Currently experiencing his lifelong dream of living in Paris, Stephen still sets aside time every week to continue to tutor over various technological platforms and often teaches at JCT test prep camps in person all over the world. He feels blessed to be doing something he is passionate about and that touches his students in life-changing ways. He has been in the industry for decades now and chose to affiliate himself with JCT4Education when he got to observe, firsthand, their professionalism, passion for clients, and vision that aligned so deeply with his own values. When he’s not busy trying to get his students into the colleges of their choice, Stephen is busy as a writer, interviewer, and skier.
